Wee Wild Ones + Of the Wild Nature Preschool hosts 2nd annual Monster March in support of The Calgary
Children’s Cottage.
Calgary – May 18, 2019: – Childcare centre Wee Wild Ones, and Of the Wild Nature Preschool invites Calgary
community members to sign up for their annual “Monster March” event on Sunday, June 16, at St. Patrick’s Island.
Participants can register online at www.weewildones-yyc.com/monster-march.
The “Monster March,” sponsored and organized by Wee Wild Ones + Of the Wild Nature Preschool, will benefit
the Calgary Children’s Cottage. Registration for the event is a minimum $10 donation per person. All participants
who raise or donate $200 or more will receive a complimentary event T-Shirt.
The March begins at 10:00 am starting at Confluence Plaza – St. Patrick’s Island. Participants will complete a
3-kilometre loop along the river walk and end at Confluence Plaza. This year we are happy to march alongside the
Children from Brenda’s House and the Crisis Nursery. The march will end with a performance by Lighting Ant
Music School at 11:00 am.
After last years Monster March, Elisha Jackson, Fund Development Manager at the Children’s Cottage, said
“$10,000 will do so much for our Crisis Nursery. For example, it could help provide nutritious meals for the children
for up to 100 days! It could provide all the maintenance of the building for a whole year. Alternatively, even pay for
our utilities for six months to keep the kids warm and comfortable. It is just such an amazing gift to the children
and families we serve”. This year, the donation will be going to both the Crisis Nursery and Brenda’s House. Brenda’s
House provides emergency family shelter for families who are currently experiencing homelessness. Families
can be together in a safe, homelike environment and receive the support and the resources they need.
Following the event, participants will receive a complimentary snack catered by Joey’s Chinook and
entertainment provided by Lighting Ant Music School. YYC Food Trucks will also be present with snacks and
lunch available for purchase. Trolley5 donated a raffled Brewery Tour & Pit Master’s Platter for four guests; as
well as prizes to the highest fundraiser and most enthusiastic monster costumes.
