LIBERATION CONCERTS 150 DUTCH VOICES
The Great Choir Holland will given two concerts in Calgary.
On Sunday 18th October a concert will be given at the First Baptist Church in Calgary. On Wednesday 21th October a concert will be given at the River Park Church. This enormous choir consists of more or less 150 Dutch Voices and is making a concert tour through Canada at the moment.
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Netherlands in the Second World War. Several events are taking place across Canada and in Europe to celebrate the anniversary – including the Liberation concerts from the Dutch Voices throughout Alberta and British Columbia. Our shared history has laid a solid foundation for our friendship, which has evolved and grown stronger over the years.
For more than 25 years already – the Grand Choirs have been phenomena in the Dutch choir scene. The driving force behind this great success is Grand Choir Projects Holland. Every year, they organize choir projects in every Dutch province, concluded by a great concert. These concerts – often accompanied by famous international soloists and orchestras – take place in colossal concert halls and churches all over the country.
A growing number of amateur singers are practicing their hobby in a Grand Choir.
The Dutch Grand Choirs are characterized by the special way of rehearsing and their very special sound. They have also done a lot of concert tours over the years.
The artistic management is being executed by two well known and very experienced conductors: Etty van der Mei and Nan van Groeningen.
The steady accompanists of the Grand Choirs are the well known organist Martin Mans and pianist Martin Zonnenberg.
