Keeping Kids Safe in an Internet Connected World
February 27 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm| Free
Technology is affecting almost every aspect of our lives and our children are growing up in an internet-connected world. The challenge for us as parents is that we didn’t. Many of us weren’t taught ( and still haven’t learned ) the skills we need to keep ourselves and our families safe on the internet and, if we don’t have those skills, how are we supposed to teach them to our children when they know more about the internet-connected world then we do?
The event will start with a fun, interactive session ( about 45 minutes in length ) aimed at kids and young teens. Parents are, of course, welcome ( and encouraged ) to attend this portion as well. After the kids session, we’ll take a break then move into the second portion of the event ( also about 45 minutes in length ) aimed at parents, providing them with the information they need to manage an internet-connected household and the kids in it.
The session being led by Sag Baruss, an IT professional ( and parent ) with over 20 years of experience helping organizations manage and secure their corporate data. Minimal technical knowledge is required for anyone attending – if you have ( or have used ) a smart phone, you qualify !! Please bring your questions ( … and your kids ), and come prepared to learn.
There is no cost for this event but space is limited so please register ( both yourself and your kids ) on EventBrite.
