Honens Day at Studio Bell – Xenia Concert

September 9, 2017 @ 3:00 pm

| Free

“The amazing power of music comes to life with the Cecilia String Quartet’s specially created Xenia Concerts, a classical music series that helps children on the autism spectrum engage and communicate with music in an interactive, open environment, where no one is judged.”—Toronto Sun

The Cecilia String Quartet’s Xenia Concerts are designed to appeal to, and be welcoming of, children on the autism spectrum and their families. The series includes innovative programming that couples selections of chamber music masterpieces with verbal presentation and graphic posters mounted during the performance so the audience can follow along with the concert. Audience members are invited to sit, stand, dance, and play with toys as they enjoy the music. Co-presented by the National Music Centre.

“Anyone who loves music can never be quite unhappy.”  These are the words of Franz Schubert, the featured composer for this Xenia Concert. The Cecilia String Quartet will take the listener on an enthralling journey through Schubert’s epic and masterful String Quartet No. 14 in D minor, with a sprinkling of some Moments Musicaux along the way. The musical works will be introduced from the stage by members of the Quartet.
