Calgary’s New West Symphony and Chorus, under the musical direction of Henric Ideström, is now almost 100 members strong. Founded in February 2010, New West performs an average of fifteen full-length concerts per concert season at various venues in and around Calgary. Last season’s highlights include a sold out Christmas performance at the Jack Singer Concert Hall, and another sold out show of “The Ones Who Dream, Songs of the Cinema”.

It is New West Symphony and Chorus’ vision to “bless people of all ages, leading them to experience love through music, community, and compassionate giving.” As a registered charity, they support and partner with both local and global organizations who seek to make a difference and support vulnerable people. So far this 2019/2020 season, “New West Gives Back” is partnering with local organizations that give practical, compassionate assistance to homeless youth and women facing the challenges of an unplanned pregnancy.
