Calgary University Hosts Rare Southern Alberta Comet This Weekend

A visible comet, 46P/Wirtanen will peak this weekend over Southern Alberta after dark. Ambrose University will team up with Canada’s largest astronomy club, The Royal Astronomical Society of Canada in Calgary Saturday December 15th, 2018 for this one-time event. Dr. Stephen Jeans, an astronomy professor will give an indoor presentation on the originals of Christmas Star as some believe it to be a comet. Experts from the RASC Calgary will be on hand with telescopes and more to make the occasion intriguing. Start time is 18:30-20:30 at the Airhart Theater on campus at 150 Ambrose Circle SW. Refreshments served, public welcome, free for all and clear skies currently foretasted under Chinook temperatures, so space will fill fast.
