Come and create historic memories with your family at Hootenanny at Heritage Park proudly brought to you by 88.9 Shine FM & Calgary’s Child Magazine Saturday, August 21, 2010 10am to 4pm Heritage Park South Lawn, Celebration and Chautauqua Tents

Once again, we invite you to sit back and enjoy live entertainment under the ‘Big Top.’ The Celebration Stage will feature a whole lot of tumbling fun with demonstrations by the Stampede City Gymnastics, performances by the Youth Singers of Calgary, sing-along with Mr. Ray’s Toddler Tunes, and toe-tapping fun with the Northern Hill Fiddlers.

Step back in time with your family. Gather a team and join in the Hay-Mazing Race. Each team to return with their completed clue sheets will receive a ballot to be entered for the Grand Prize draw for a Weekend Mountain Getaway!

Our Hands-on area will have activities for kids of all ages including:

• ‘Old Tyme’ picnic games from an era gone bywith Calgary Meals on Wheels

• Craft station

• Plant a pot with Calgary Co-op

• Join the CPO for their Instrument petting zoo and a Wii Showdown

• Live action photo flip books provided by Carnivals at Heart

• Come and see the fur fly! Canadian Rabbit Hopping Club members will be bringing some of their fastest bunnies to demonstrate time trials and show off their high jump and hopping skills

• Bouncy Bounce Houses provided by Sky High Bouncers

• Calgary Corn Maze’s Petting Zoo

• The Calgary Public Library will be bringing along their favorite books just perfect for a little quiet time

• Face painting provided by Par-T-Perfect

• Putz around with mini-golf provided by Sky High Bouncers

• Hands-on fun with Braeside Insurance

• Take a picture with the whole family at the Family Picture Zone

Roaming entertainers and mascots are sure to delight young and old. Matthew Rider the Young Magician will amaze you with his trickery and Val Hilliker, comedy ventriloquist will keep everyone in giggles.

While you are enjoying Hootenanny, explore Heritage Park to discover the treasures of Western Canada’s past. Travel back in time from the 1950s all the way to the 1860s and engage with the past like never before. Ride an authentic steam train, enjoy the thrills of an antique midway or set sail on Calgary’s only paddlewheeler. Watch the blacksmith hard at work making horseshoes or visit with the costumed townspeople.
