Top 10 Weather Stories of 2011

Environment Canada has released its top ten weather stories of the year and a pair of major events in Alberta made the list.   Flooding in Saskatchewan and Manitoba has taken the top spot with the Slave Lake forest fire and flooding in Quebec round out the top three.  Fourth place went to the challenging growing season for Canadian farmers while this November's massive windstorm in Southern Alberta took tenth spot.  

Here is a full list of the top weather stories of 2011 according to Environment Canada:

1. Historic flooding in Saskatchewan and Manitoba

2. Slave Lake fire

3. Flooding in Richelieu, Quebec

4. A difficult growing season for Canadian farmers

5. Tornado in Goderich, Ontario

6. Hurricane season on the East Coast

7. Hot summer in Ontario and Quebec

8. Arctic Sea ice melting

9. February 2nd winter storm

10. November's wicked winds in Alberta
