3 Year Old and Dad Asked to Leave Flight After Boy Refuses to Put on Seatbelt: listeners weigh in
Just read about how an antsy preschooler and his dad were kicked off an Alaskan airlines flight because the 3 year old boy wouldn’t put his seatbelt on. The crew told the dad and his son to leave the flight because the pilot said it was a safety issue that he didn’t want to have to deal with mid-flight. What would you do if you were that dad? Would you let this be a lesson to your son? Or would you have found a way to get that seatbelt on him?
Naomi says: been there... and yes, we made him put the seatbelt on. Our challenge may have been a bit harder yet, as ours was a strong willed 7 year old with neurological issues. We need to stop letting our children be our boss
Janise says: The 3-year-old apparently is in control. That is sad. Personally, I would have helped him with an "attitude adjustment" and the child would have sat and buckled in. That's the lesson I would have taught him. I am the patent and you are not. Period.
Linda says: The parent needs to be in charge not the child. If the child needed a couple extra minutes to get the seat belt on then that should have been granted also you don't breed to wear it the entire flight once you are airborne you can remove it it is a power situation that needs to have the power diffused
Lorna says: Exactly so. If you wouldn't let your three year old drive your car into oncoming traffic, then they shouldn't be driving your life.
