SAVE at the Grocery Store
Our family is trying something different this month. On the weekend, we make a list of five dinners we want to eat in the coming week, but we don't assign a day. Instead, we put the list on the side of the fridge. And then we go grocery shopping and only buy what we need for those five dinners (and of course whatever else we ned for lunches, etc.). Then, each day we decide what we want to eat from the list. By sticking to our plan, we're spending less and throwing less food away.
One listener suggested "shopping" in your own freezer. Take inventory of what you have, and start planning to use it up. Her grocery bills have gone from $200-$250 to just over $100 in a month. GREAT idea!
Here are some other ideas to help you save at the grocery store this week (from Canadian Living):
1. Buy in bulk
2. Support the little guy
3. Don't recycle those pesky flyers yet
4. Make
your own tomato sauce from scratch
5. Have a plan – stick to a list or only buy what you can carry.
6. Stick to the edges of the grocery store
