Bottled Water Free Day - March 11th
Students across the country will be joining together to celebrate Canada’s first Bottled Water Free Day on March 11th.
Thanks to the Calgary Sun article on Bottled Water Free Day, I discovered the following:
-Bottled water is not as stringently regulated at tap water
-Bottled water is between 240 and 10,000 times more expensive than tap water (that one I already knew!)
-More that 25% of bottled water is reprocessed municipal tap water
-On average, Canadian bottling plants receive government inspections once every 3 to 5 years
-Municipal drinking water is tested daily
-Concentrations of contaminants such as arsenic, mercury, bromide, e. coli bacteria and lead have been found in bottled water
