Wah - change your name?

Some back to School problems, some that just come with growing up – this is Name calling but literally because of what’s now a famous name – Miley Cyrus.

Years ago you and your husband name your precious girl Miley, Elizabeth, now even though she was named long before people even heard of Miley Cyrus today she is being bugged at school, being called the Cyrus kid – Hi Miley Cyrus – you get my meaning but now she hates her name and wants to change it. What do you say – speechless right? Will she consider being called her middle name Elizabeth - NO.

They don’t get it, we give names to our children after great deliberation – sincere thought – deep personal reasons and here comes your little girl and her request to change it – should you let her? She wants the name Zarya and you personally don’t even like it but she’s picked it because it means Princess. This is one of those issues I I would just not want to deal with – kudos for picking a name meaning princess but I am clueless and would be on the internet emailing to Dr. Phil! HELP!

I think that in the end she'll appreciate her name when she gets older. I got endless teasing about my name when I was younger - some that I can't even repeat!! As I've gotten older, the teasing is gone and I'm constantly complimented on my name when I'm not being called Chelsea (lol). Childhood only lasts a few years but the legacy of a long deliberated over name lasts a lifetime. It's one gift that your parents gave you that will go with you everywhere for the rest of your life.
