(United Kingdom)—Mick Richardson and his fiancée Mandy had planned to get married once he'd recovered from the leukemia he was diagnosed with in 2010.

But the updated prognosis only gave him about three months to live, so the couple decided to marry right away.

That's when the staff at St. James Hospital snapped into action.

Mick and MandyAccording to an exclusive report from the Yorkshire Evening Post, the staff pitched in and decorated, while a Marks and Spencer store donated all the food and a cake.

"The staff did all the ward up and the day room," remarked Mandy. "If it was not for them, we would've just [gotten] married by his bed. They made it special."

The day after Mick and Mandy were married, the couple went back home and had a week together before Mick passed away on December 29th.
