Dutch Butter Cake

Dutch Butter Cake 
(boterkoek)

1 cup sugar

1 cup butter

2 cups flour

1 tsp vanilla

1 tsp baking powder

1 egg, beaten

 

-cream butter and sugar

-add vanilla and 3/4 egg

-blend in flour and baking powder but do not overmix

-press into 9x9 pan (ungreased)

-smooth 1/4 beaten egg over top with a spatula and make plaid pattern with a fork

-bake at 350 degrees for 30 min

 

This is unbelievably yummy.  Cut small squares as it is so rich.  Bet you can't eat just one.
