Combat Ice and Boost Greenery Later

Posted by Annette Jennings  |  POST A COMMENT

There are two extremes right now in Calgary - Clear sidewalks or treacherous ice patches. Just a trek across the yard can be tricky. It seems that there is not really SNOW left ...it is basically ICE that has us surrounded. Consider something different to protect against slipping and at the same time provides a pay off later in the year!

Spread gritty alfalfa meal -- available from feed stores -- on slippery paths to provide traction on ice and snow. In spring, the alfalfa serves as a nitrogen fertilizer for surrounding greenery. :)
